Resources & Referral Specialist/ Community Relations
The Resource & Referral Specialist connects Native community members to culturally safe treatment, recovery, and prevention resources. This position strengthens referral networks, builds partnerships, and helps families access services across the tri-county region.
Primary Responsibilities:
Referral System & Navigation
- Maintain an updated directory of treatment centers, TeleMAT providers, housing, and recovery programs.
- Assist individuals and families in finding and connecting with appropriate services.
- Conduct follow-up to ensure successful linkage to care.
Community Relations & Engagement
- Represent Native C.O.R.E. at tribal council meetings, coalitions, and local events.
- Facilitate or support Family/Youth Advisory Committee (FYAC) meetings to gather input and feedback.
- Support awareness activities such as “Ask the Pharmacist” events and health fairs.
Collaboration & Partnership Development
- Strengthen relationships with partner agencies, clinics, and social service providers.
- Promote cultural competency among partners and advocate for culturally responsive care.
Data Tracking & Reporting
- Document all referrals and outcomes in tracking systems.
- Contribute data and narrative updates for grant reports.

Suggested Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in case management, resource coordination, or
social services, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based organization.
Knowledge of and experience working with Native American communities, with a
demonstrated commitment to cultural competency and understanding.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport,
establish trust, and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-
focused approach to service delivery.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and
manage multiple deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management
preferred.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
NATIVE PREFERENCE
Preference in hiring is given to the most qualified applicant. However, when candidates for an open position are determined to be equally qualified, Native American candidates will have preference for hiring purposes. This means that if the qualifications of the best candidates are comparable, the Native American candidate is given preference. The following order of preference shall be adhered to when hiring: (1) Members of a tribe; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court or the State of California) of members of a tribe; 3) Parents of children of there tribe; 4) All other documented Native Americans; 5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
